Payment for Services

Payment Options. Options for payment include providing our office with your credit card information prior to your counseling session or presenting a check or cash at the counseling session. Regardless of whether you are covered by insurance or other payment sources, clients are ultimately responsible for payment of therapy session fees and any "no show" cancellation fees. Payment Categories

Client Payment Categories. Clients are seen as individuals, couples, families or groups. Professional fees are $125/hour for individual or couples therapy.. A sliding fee scale may apply to clients who can demonstrate severe financial hardship and have no insurance coverage. At no time does Real World Counseling charge clients differently based on any discriminatory criterion—any difference in charges are caused solely by factors explained herein.

Insurance Plan Clients. Real World Counseling participates on a select number of insurance company panels. Insurance arrangements are confusing, depending on our status with your insurance company. If RWC is an in-network provider, you will pay only the co-pay and deductible amounts providing you have not already used up all your insurance benefits in which case you will be responsible for the full fee. If RWC is an out-of-network provider, you will pay the full fee before each session, then file a claim with your insurance company. Real World Counseling will assist you in providing any information you need for your claim (see Questions to Ask Your Insurance Company).

Private Pay Clients. For Private Pay clients the Usual and Customary Fee for Individual Therapy is $125/therapy hour. This rate is applicable for in-office, telephone, video and email services and is paid in advance of the session. For Group Therapy the fee is $65/therapy hour per person with group size maximum of (8) clients. Group therapy is scheduled for 120 minute sessions. On occasion a sliding fee scale is available for clients experiencing financial hardship when the client can provide documentation of hardship found to be acceptable by Real World Counseling LLC in their sole and final determination. Call for more information on the Sliding Fee Scale.

Online/Phone Clients. Payment is handled directly here via PayPal using either your charge card or PayPal account. You may also send us a check in advance of your online session. Options are for either for full hour or half hour.

Cancellation Notice Requirement

Scheduled sessions that are cancelled less than 24 hours in advance of the scheduled session will incur a "no show" cancellation fee of $100.00 and will be billed to your Visa, MC, or other account provided for payment as outlined in the Client Information & Consent to Treatment Plan. To give a Cancellation Notice you must speak with someone at Real World Counseling or leave a voice message at 602-697-8256. Do not text or email Cancellation Notices as they will not be recognized as a legitimate Cancellation Notice. Any means of communication other than a phone call and voice message to 602-697-8256 is unacceptable. Any "no-show" cancellation fee must be paid in full prior to continuation of therapy. Real World Counseling, LLC reserves the right to engage in delinquent account collection efforts including collection agencies and court rulings.

Questions to Ask Your Insurance Company

To be sure you understand your coverages, Clients should call their insurance company call and ask the following questions:

  1. Do I have Mental Health benefits? Or, in the case of alcohol or substance abuse outpatient clients, "Do I have Substance Abuse benefits?"
  2. How much is my co-pay?
  3. How much is my deductible? How much of my deductible has been met?
  4. How many sessions per calendar year am I entitled to?
  5. How many sessions have already been met?
  6. How much do you pay for an out-of-network provider? (If you are interested in group therapy, be sure to inquire about "group therapy" costs rather than individual therapy costs).
  7. Is there a limit on how much you will pay per session?
  8. Is a Primary Care Physician or Psychiatrist approval/referral needed?

Answers to these questions will help you determine what your financial investment will be.
